Combine several PDFs into one document

This tool joins multiple PDF files into a single PDF. You add the files, arrange them in the order you want, and download one combined document that contains every page of every file, in that order.

It helps whenever information arrives in pieces but has to leave as one file: a job application made of a cover letter, a CV and certificates, a set of monthly statements for a loan or visa file, or chapters of a report exported separately. One file is easier to attach, easier to print and harder to lose than five.

How to merge PDF files

  1. Drop two or more PDFs onto the upload area, or click it to select them. You can choose several files at once in the file picker.
  2. Need more? Drop or select additional files at any time. They are added to the end of the list.
  3. Review the list. Each row shows a small preview of the first page and the file name.
  4. Drag a row by its handle to move it up or down. The order of the list, from top to bottom, is the order of the final document.
  5. Remove a file you added by mistake with the Cancel link on its row.
  6. Click Merge PDF Files. The button is active once at least two files are in the list.
  7. When processing is done, click Download to save the result as merged-document.pdf. Rename it to something meaningful before you send it.

Tips for a clean result

  • Name your files with numbers first, such as 01-cover.pdf and 02-cv.pdf. It makes the list easier to check before merging.
  • Fix page orientation before merging. If one file has sideways pages, correct them with Rotate PDF Pages first, so the combined file reads correctly.
  • Remove pages you do not need. Blank pages or unrelated sections can be taken out beforehand with Remove PDF Pages.
  • Have photos rather than PDFs? Turn them into a PDF with Image to PDF, then merge that file with your other documents.
  • Check the final page order by scrolling through the merged file once before you submit it anywhere.

What to keep in mind

  • Merging does not compress. The combined file is roughly the size of all input files added together. If it is too large for an upload limit, run it through Compress PDF afterwards, keeping in mind that scanned pages shrink little.
  • Whole files only. Every page of every file is included. To merge only certain pages, remove the others first or split the file and pick the pages you need.
  • Reordering is per file, not per page. You can move whole documents up and down the list. To rearrange individual pages after merging, use Organize PDF Pages.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be read until the password is removed in the program that set it.
  • Large batches depend on your device memory, because the whole job runs in the browser.

Does merging change the content?

No. Pages are copied into the new document as they are. Text stays selectable, vector graphics stay sharp and images keep their original resolution. The tool does not add a watermark, a cover page or any branding to your file.

Private by design

Online Toolsz merges your PDFs directly in your browser. The files are read from your device, combined there and saved back to it. They are not uploaded to our server, which is reassuring when the documents include ID scans, payslips or signed contracts.

Frequently asked questions

How many PDFs can I merge at once?

There is no fixed number set by the site. You need at least two files, and the practical upper limit depends on the total size and on how much memory your device has.

Can I change the order after adding the files?

Yes. Drag any row in the list to a new position before you click Merge PDF Files. The final document follows the list from top to bottom.

Why is the merged file so large?

The tool copies all pages without compressing them, so the result is about the sum of the original files. Compressing afterwards can help with text-based documents but will not shrink scans much.

Can I merge images and PDFs together?

Not directly. Convert your images to PDF first with the Image to PDF tool, then add that PDF to the merge list. Our guide on how to combine multiple photos into one PDF explains the steps.

Are my documents uploaded?

No. All the work happens in your browser tab, and the files never leave your device.
